You deserve quality care at an affordable cost. The Allentown Women's Center strives to provide the highest quality abortion services at affordable prices. AWC offers you health care that you can trust. Why settle for less?

AWC accepts most insurances (see below) or we offer a cash reduction for patients who do not have insurance and pay in full at the time of service. Cash fees for abortion services range from $370 to $950 and are determined by several factors including: type of abortion (surgical or non-surgical), length of pregnancy, anesthesia choice, and blood type.

For surgical abortions between 5-11+6 weeks:

$420 awake with local anesthesia; $450 for local anesthesia with a narcotic to help with cramping; and $540 for intravenous sedation ("twilight sleep").

For surgical abortions between 12-13+6 weeks:

$520 awake with local anesthesia; $550 for local anesthesia with a narcotic to help with cramping; and $645 for intravenous sedation ("twilight sleep").

For surgical abortions between 14-15+6 weeks:

$725 awake with local anesthesia, local anesthesia with a narcotic to help with cramping or for intravenous sedation ("twilight sleep").

For surgical abortions between 16- 16+6 weeks:

$795 for intravenous sedation ("twilight sleep"). Local anesthesia and local with a narcotic are not available at this gestation.

For surgical abortions between 17- 17+6 weeks:

$900 for intravenous sedation ("twilight sleep"). Local anesthesia and local with a narcotic are not available at this gestation.

For NON-SURGICAL abortions between 5-9 weeks:

$460; if the method fails and requires surgery to complete, there is a $100 additional charge and includes your choice of anesthesia.

Rhogam Injection (for patients with a negative blood type): $50 for any gestation

Our fees for all abortion services include counseling, lab work, ultrasound, most medications, and all follow-up care including a 3-week follow-up exam.

If you have any questions regarding fees or payment, do not hesitate to contact an AWC phone counselor at your convenience. We will be happy to take your call! Laughing

Insurance: Most insurance policies cover abortion services. Often we can arrange for your carrier to pay us directly. Otherwise, we can give you an itemized bill that you can submit for reimbursement. We participate with Pennsylvania Blue Shield, Capital Blue Cross, Independence Blue Cross, Keystone Health Plan Central, Keystone Health Plan East, Aetna, Valley Preferred, Choice Plus, United Healthcare,  and AmeriHealth PPO and HMO insurance plans. We may accept other insurance plans with pre-verification. Not all insurance plans cover abortion services, so we recommend contacting your insurance company to find out if elective abortion is covered under your health plan. You may or may not need a referral.

Fee Reductions (Medical and Surgical):

Medical Assistance: Please note that in the state of Pennsylvania, Medical Assistance only covers abortion in cases of rape, incest, or to avert the death of the mother. As a courtesy, AWC will take a $50 reduction for anyone who presents a medical assistance card. Medical Assistance includes Access, Gateway, Keystone Mercy, and Amerihealth Mercy. If you are receiving additional funding from NAF, your  Medical Assistance discount is $25.

Students: AWC will give a $20 reduction for any patient that presents a current school ID.

Payment options

Payment in full is expected at the time of service. AWC accepts Cash, Money Orders, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and Debit Cards. We do not accept personal checks. If you are having difficulty obtaining the full fee, please call our telephone counselors to discuss your situation and what options you may have.

There are several organizations that offer funding to women to help pay for abortion services. Depending on the organization, these fees may or may not have to be paid back. Please click the link below for more information on funding and pro-choice organizations.
